Who to Notify
Once you’ve collected all of the necessary paperwork, you should have a good overview of all of their accounts, online accounts, utilities etc. Your next job will be to notify all of these services and organisations. This may include:
Financial institutions and creditors
- Banks
- Building Societies
- National Savings and Investments
- Share Registrars
- Pension providers
- Insurance Companies
- Mortgage Providers
- Credit card Companies, etc
Remember to….
Ask for the balance of the accounts at the date of death and ask whether there any other accounts held with them.
Other organisations to notify
- Landlord, if the property was rented
- Employer, if the deceased was employed
- Utility companies: water, gas, electric, TV, broadband, etc, and ask for the balance of the accounts at the date of death
- Motor and home insurance providers and ask that the motor vehicle/home continues to be insured until it is sold. Restrictions will be imposed, and they should be adhered to.
